Greece and the Greek Islands

Holidays to Greece and the Greek Islands offer such a diverse range of holiday types that it’s difficult to group them together. There are so many resorts that it’s hard to know where to start. The most popular destinations in Greece and ont eh Greek islands include Halkidiki, Kefalonia, Skiathos, Zakynthos, Corfu, Crete, Rhodes and Kos,

Holidays to Halkidiki

Halkidiki is an incredibly picturesque peninsula with simply breathtaking scenery and stunning beaches. The three “fingers” of Halkidiki reach into the ocean like a trident providing a myriad of beaches and coves. Some of the more popular of these beaches include Agios Georgious and Agios Ioannis.

The nightlife in Halkidiki is more about tradition than trance but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t plenty of nightclubs to keep you partying until the early hours.

Holidays to Kefalonia

Kefalonia is of course well known as the setting for Captain Corelli’s Mandolin. Largely unspoilt, Kefalonia is a haven for those looking to escape the stresses and strains of modern life. A truly magnificent island of incredible scenery and golden sandy beaches.

Kefalonia boasts numerous beaches but without doubt the most well known is Myrtos beach. It really is the stuff that dream holidays are made of with incredibly blue waters and glorious white sand.

Holidays to Skiathos

Largely unspoilt, Skiathos boasts around 60 beaches. Again, the nightlife is low-key in resort but Skiathos town is only a short bus ride away. Although there is much debate about which of Greece’s beaches can claim the number one spot, Koukounaries must be a contender. It literally is a beach lined forest and is truly spectacular.

Corfu Holidays

Corfu is probably the most popular destination in Greece with British holiday makers and for good reason. Currently, Corfu boasts some 30 blue flag beaches. As one would expect from a mature package holiday resort the nightlife in Corfu is vibrant and frenetic. Party animals should head for Kavos for great nights out and lazy days on the beach.

Holidays to Crete

The largest of the Greek Islands, Crete is an ideal holiday destination for those looking to combine action with tranquillity. From the picturesque streets of Chania to the headier resort of Platanias, Crete has it all.

Some of the more popular resorts on Crete include Agios Nikolas, Elounda, Malia, Istron and Gerani. Check out the beach at Malia with its golden sand that seems to stretch endlessly along the coastline. For a more traditional view of Crete head toward the harbour at Elounda or the narrow streets of Kamilari.
